Taking part to the « Florens »’s biennale, the Osservatorio Mestieri d’Arte (OmA) awarded 153 craftsmen from Florence to highlight the quality of their work.

The second edition of the Florens biennal took part in Florence from November, 3rd to November, 11th 2011. This biannual event was organized during the International Week for Cultural and Environmental Heritage. The aim is of this week is to unite organizations and individuals who deal with the relationship between economy and culture, and believe that long-term prospects for economic growth must be based firmly on the revitalization of culture. The theme of the 2012’s biennial was “Culture, quality of life”.

On this occasion, the l’Osservatorio Mestieri d’Arte involved itself in the recognition of craft quality and awarded 153 companies from Florence. Those prices are seals that craftsmen will put up in their shops. In 2010, 103 companies of the Florence province were awarded. More than only put in value the quality of the work of the craftsmen, this price aims to bring a formal recognition of the trust relation and cooperation developed between the OmA and the crafstmen over the years. The awarding ceremony took place November, 8th at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The new promoted craftsmen will be in the second edition of the « Enjoy Handicraft in Florence », promotional guide of Arts and Crafts in Florence, developed by the OmA.
