Utility: Piece of the holiday Saxon folk costume; it is an important symbol of ethnical identity, worn by girls only in the church untill they got married-then it is replaced with “vălitură”/ the veil; it was borrowed from the Patrician costume in the 19th century; worn on holidays when going to church

Description: Cardboard cylinder covered with black velvet; on the inside the piece is embellished with industrial silk with floral motifs and with a strip of white lace; black velvet, dark blue silk with floral prints; 4 industrial ribbons: 2 red, 2 colored, woven in the jacquard technique; 2 metallic pins attached.

Economic sector: Cylinder worked in urban workshop, ribbons applied in household; This type of object can be found in the antique shops at about 200 – 400 Romanian lei; this kind of object is particularly sought by the Saxons who live in Germany. Unfortunately, on the nowadays Romanian market this type of object is no longer manufactured.
