Description: Round headkerchief, 19 cm in diameter, made up of 2 pieces. The first piece, a kind of towel is doubled with cardboard. This piece has rectangular shape, embroidered with the so called “chindeseală” in black, violet and light brown shades; long twisted fringes from the threads of the warp. The second piece, the tulle headkerchief is embroidered with floral and phytomorph motifs. Two of the margins of the second headkerchief are ornamented with geometrical shapes like the other piece having also tassels. The piece is hemmed with thin lace. Chromatics: background: white; adornments: violet, black, light brown, blue, green, yellow.

Economic sector: Worked in homestead;
On the nowadays market this type of object can be found rather difficult, at prices between 700-900 lei (according the quality of the fabric, its conservation status or the meticulosity and richness of motifs). The interest in buying this piece is low because it is no longer used: the “velitoare” was worn at weddings and funerals in the villages from Mărginimea Sibiului area; it was a symbol of changing the social status, being worn by young women after they got married.It was no longer used starting with the 20th century- it was rarely worn only by old women in church. There are buyers among the specialists, museums or private collectors. In our country, at this moment this type of headkerchief is no longer manufactured.
